This article is just some background knowlege on the XO-1 we though our readers might find interesting.
The XO-1 was known as the $100 Laptop (or Children's Machine).
It was an inexpensive laptop computer for intended distribution to disadvantaged children in developing countries (like ethiopia) all around the world.
Its aim was to provide them with access to knowledge, the Internet and freedom to experiment and express themselves".
The laptop is designed and developed by the One Laptop per Child (OLPC) organization, and was manufactured by the Taiwanese computer company, Quanta Computer.
The XO-1 was designed to be a budget, low production costs, small, durable and importantly efficient.
It is istalled with a version of Fedora Linux which has a GUI called 'Sugar'. The XO-1 has a built in video camera, microphone, Wi-Fi, and a touch pad.
